"What Brings You Back?"

SUNNYSIDE UP MOMENT - MAY 19, 2020

DAY SIXTY-FOUR OF THE CORONAVIRUS QUARANTINE FOR US AT STACK 'EM HIGH PANCAKES AND SO FORTH

Like restaurant owners everywhere, we are diligently preparing for the day we can welcome customers into our establishment once again.  Truthfully, our arms are already exhausted from weighing the options.  The term “re-opening” doesn’t really describe what we are faced with.  We “re-open” every spring after closing for our winter break.  We are actually well versed and quite good at that process.  What we are planning for now is a voyage into the unknown.  We aren’t beginning again.  We are beginning anew.  On good days, I see this cup as half full, an opportunity to be creative, to think outside of the box.  On other days, I see this challenge as an impossible obstacle.  Today, I remembered a quote from Thomas Edison, “When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: you haven’t.”

Many of you have reached out to us since mid-March asking how you can support us, and we can’t begin to describe how comforting those emails, text messages and calls have been.  To each of you we responded with the same reply, “just come back.”  Now that the time for us to open our doors is drawing near, it turns out we need more from you.  Instead of visualizing the coming season by ourselves, we need you to visualize it too.  Do you plan to return to restaurants as soon as the restrictions are loosened or will you wait until they are completely lifted?  What are your expectations going to be for dining in a restaurant?  How can we meet or exceed those expectations?  What are the deal breakers going to be?  Does everyone, staff and customers alike, need to masked, shielded, gowned and gloved?  Is physical distancing enough or are partitions the answer?  If you have time and would like to chime in, please forward your thoughts, suggestions, concerns to our website email:  info@stackemhighpancakesandsoforth.com.  We really are in this together.  We thank you for your patronage, past and future.  And look forward to serving you soon.
