“Happy Easter!"

SUNNYSIDE UP MOMENT - APRIL 12, 2020

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN OF THE CORONAVIRUS SHUTDOWN FOR US AT STACK 'EM HIGH PANCAKES AND SO FORTH

Good Morning!  This is the first time ever Nick and I have been home together on Easter morning.  We usually don’t dye many eggs or hide baskets or go to church.  On Easter morning one of us is up and out the door at the crack of dawn.  The other is hurrying the kids through the opening of toys they don’t have time to play with and a conciliatory egg hunt.  It usually sounds something like this, “Ok, yes!  Two eggs in the living room, oh look I see one in the kitchen…get your shoes on….yeah, you can eat a piece of candy…ok, one more egg up high….no, you can’t open that you have to brush your teeth….alright, now we’re late…..yes, that might be another egg under the table, we will get it later…..yes, we can put that together after work….come on, get your backpack……off to yia-yia’s, mommy’s got to go!!!”

This year there are no baskets filled with toys, jelly beans or chocolate bunnies.  This year Patty will not be calling out, “Welcome!  Welcome Back!”  We will not be going to yia-yia’s or eating Greek Easter Bread or exchanging Christos Anesti and Alithos Anesti with Uncle Steve, Aunt Kristine and the cousins.  While these casualties of coronavirus lurk in our midst, the greater truths easily emerge into the forefront.  Fill your day with joy and gratitude and your basket will runneth over.  The promise of tomorrow isn’t hiding like a well-placed egg, it is right in front of you, there on the bunny trail.  So hop to it!
